I explore how emerging technologies can be used to monitor ecosystems autonomously. In particular, I focus on using the sounds of ecosystems (eco-acoustic data) to track how biodiversity and ecological health varies with the effects of land-use and climate change. I have developed recording devices and infrastructure for the real-time streaming of audio data from ecosystems over long time periods (, and novel machine learning approaches to analyse the incoming data. Going forward I will continue to work on both themes with the aim of developing truly scalable and impactful ecosystem monitoring solutions.
